London Vacation
See Britain by rail

Staycation - (visit London and view the city from the river)

In the current economic climate, fewer people are entertaining the idea of a two week vacation abroad and are therefore seeking out a holiday experience without the bill at the end of it. They go about this in the same way they would a legitimate holiday in that they set a start and end date, plan things in ahead (attractions, sights etc.) all with the aim of avoiding routine and distancing themselves from their normal day to day life, all at the lowest possible cost. This trend for 'staycations' in 2009 is helping boost the local economy.

One of the best activities that will meet these 'holiday' criteria is a trip to the City of London. London grew around the River Thames so what better way to enjoy the City than by Thames River Boat. You can view almost all London's World famous landmarks from the Thames. Many Londoners are also choosing to stay at home and get out and explore their home City. This domestic tourism is great for London and keeps the local economy growing.

With activities on the river ranging from lunch and dinner cruises, to disco party nights, to private charters and RIB (rigid inflatable speed boat) rides. There is something for everyone from fine dining to a bit of speed and excitement. However, with so many companies operating these River Thames boat trips the quality can vary and it is important to do enough research so as to avoid disappointment and guarantee quality, after all this staycation is your 'holiday'.

With a long hot summer forecast what better way to avoid the crowds than by sailing past them in style. There are so many piers along the river it is easy to find a boarding location that suits you. Choose some of the up or down river piers and you doon't even have to travel into London through the traffic. Simply book your boat to meet you in for example Putney and you can then cruise into London in style.

So for the year of the 'staycation' make sure you enjoy the wonders of the River Thames in London.
